Sadako Suzuki, 95, of Hilo died Sept. 24 at Life Care Center of Hilo. Born in North Kohala, she was the retired owner of Hilo Products Inc. Visitation 3:30-4:30 p.m. Saturday (Oct. 26) at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Celebration of life will begin at 4:30 p.m. Casual attire. Survived by sons, Royden (Lynda) Suzuki and Craig (Irene) Suzuki of Hilo; daughter, Susan (Ben Abarca) Matsuda of Hilo; brothers, Paul (Jane) Daikawa of Hilo, Stanley (Jan) Daikawa of Minnesota; sister, Carole (Harry) Watanabe of New Mexico; 10 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. Mary Ella Andrews

Mary Ella Andrews, 74, of Hilo died Oct. 12 at Hilo Benioff Medical Center. Born in Philadelphia, she was a retired high school English teacher. Private services. Survived by husband, Joseph Vincent Andrews of Hilo; children, John Emmett Andrews of Maine, Cora Marie Andrews of Hilo and Kevin Odell Andrews of Michigan; four grandchildren. Etsuko Martin

Etsuko Martin, 99, of Hilo died Aug. 16 at Hilo Benioff Medical Center. Born in Hilo, she was a homemaker and a member of Waiakea Baptist Bible Church. Oinah Leolani Anakalea

Oinah Leolani Anakalea, 83, of Hilo, died Aug. 28 at Hale Anuenue Restorative Care Center. Born in Hilo, she was a retired custodian for Haili Church and was also a member of the Haili Church and Kuhio Chapel. Visitation 9-10 a.m. Thursday (Oct. 24) at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Funeral service at 10 a.m. Burial to follow at Homelani Memorial Park. Casual attire. Survived by son, Leonard Kauai Anakalea of Hilo; sister, Mary Dennison of Las Vegas; two grandsons. Annie Fay “Sally” Shortridge

Annie Fay “Sally” Shortridge, 90, of Kealakekua died Sept. 26 while on a California cruise. Born in Florida, she was a lifelong cosmetologist and worked until her passing, and she loved bowling, reading and especially loved to cruise. Celebration of life and visitation at 9:30 a.m. Saturday (Oct. 26) at Kona Faith Center in Captain Cook, with 10 a.m. service and lunch to follow. The service will be live streamed. Isaac M.K. Dakujaku, 20, of Hilo died Sept. 29 in Hilo. Born in Hilo, he was a student at the University of Hawaii at Hilo and a carpenter and mason for C. Dakujaku Contracting. Judy Akiko Ogata, 98, of Hilo, died Sept. 5 at Life Care Center of Hilo. Yuki Hori Oshima

Yuki Hori Oshima, 101, of Hilo, died Oct. 10 at Hilo Benioff Medical Center. Born in Hilo, she was a retired administrative assistant and a member of Hilo Higashi Hongwanji Mission. Aaron Edward Chui

Aaron Edward Chui, 63, of Hilo, died Oct. 2 at Hilo Benioff Medical Center. Born in Honolulu, he was a high school math teacher at Kamehameha Schools Hawaii campus. Survived by daughters, Elyse Chui of Long Beach, Calif., McKenna (Kevin) Hernandez of Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., Clarice Chui of Camarillo, Calif., and Jenna Chui of Camarillo, Calif.; brother Lorne (Pauline) Chui of Lompoc, Calif.; and half-sister Aprilani Mclwraith of Waikele. James Derasin Kawaihae

James Derasin Kawaihae, 80, of Pahoa, died July 24, 2022, at Northbay Hospital in California.
